Tenure or Clinical-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Dermatology
The Veterinary Clinical Sciences department in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time, clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in dermatology. The qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate will determine appointment rank.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to collaborate with the current accomplished team of veterinary dermatologists and allied specialists in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center. The primary responsibilities of this position will be divided between clinical duty, didactic and laboratory teaching, development of scholarly works, academic service and outreach activities. The percentage of effort dedicated towards these duties is dependent on the applicant, chosen track, department, and service’s needs.
The selected candidate will be committed to the delivery of exceptional patient care, share an enthusiastic dedication to education and will contribute to the enhancement of the national prominence of the dermatology and other sections practicing in the LVMC. The successful candidate will also have a collegial, collaborative attitude and willingness to participate in all levels of technician, student, and house officer education. The candidate will be highly self-motivated, innovative, and will possess excellent communication skills and experience working with a diverse population. Furthermore, the candidate will demonstrate professional maturity with a leadership style that contributes to a positive culture, and have a compassionate and empathetic nature towards the clients and patients of the LVMC. Required minimum qualifications include DVM or equivalent degree, successful completion of an American College of Veterinary Dermatology (or equivalent) approved residency training program, and State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before the first day of employment.

Clinical Instructor, Dermatology Section

The Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as a Clinical Instructor within the Dermatology section.
Qualification: DVM or equivalent. Board certification or Board eligibility is required in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology or European College of Veterinary Dermatology. Aptitude and/or experience in clinical instruction of veterinary students, interns, and residents is also expected.
Applicant will commit time to the clinical activities of the hospital and school including the clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students and residents, continuing education programs, and to basic science or clinical research that advances academic clinical practice. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical activities of the hospital including patient care, instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns, and residents. Availability and willingness to consult and communicate with referring veterinarians and clients is vitally important. Approximately 750 dermatology patients are evaluated annually. The current caseload in the Small Animal Clinic is comprised of approximately 80% dogs and 20% cats. The Dermatology Service also provides services on a consultation basis for a small numbers of horses, farm animals, and exotic species. The distribution of time in clinical service is expected to be approximately 60-70%, implying approximately 36 weeks per year of clinical duty. The remaining balance of effort in the section and the Department will be determined in accordance with service needs, academic priorities and the successful candidate’s expertise and academic goals in veterinary dermatology. These activities could include didactic teaching, continuing education, and/or focused clinical research. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all sections of the hospital and department.
Extensive opportunities for collaborative research and teaching exist within the School of Veterinary Medicine and the UW-Madison campus. The School of Medicine & Public Health, the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, the School of Pharmacy, the Biotechnology Center, and the School of Education are located within a short distance of the School of Veterinary Medicine on the UW-Madison campus. A close relationship also exists with the Wisconsin State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, which is located within the same footprint on campus as the School of Veterinary Medicine. UW-Madison considers the School of Veterinary Medicine to be a major factor in its overall success as a top five university in terms of awarded federal funding. The school is also a major factor in Madison's emergence as a hub of commercial biotechnology, including regenerative medicine technologies.
