The Animal Medical Centre Amsterdam (“ Medisch Centrum voor Dieren”) is looking for a Veterinary dermatologist 

The Animal Medical Centre is the largest private emergency and referral hospital in the Netherlands. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of pet animals by offering specialist, emergency and critical care services, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The hospital is currently staffed with 11 specialists and 6 residents in training for 3 different specialties, 25 veterinarians and 70 veterinary technicians. 

We are housed in a in a new modern building (2010, 1800 square feet), and supplied with all the modern equipment for diagnosis (including CT and MRI) and treatment in small animal medicine. The hospital is located in Amsterdam, the colorful, creative and dynamic capital of the Netherlands.

Our dermatology team consists of 2 dermatologists and 4 dedicated dermatology nurses. Together they treat approximately 2000 -2100 dermatology patients per year, with allergy and otitis as special areas of interest.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated colleague to join this dynamic team.

We are looking for someone who 

  • Is board-certified (ECVD) as a Specialist in veterinary dermatology or has completed a residency in dermatology.
  • Is quality-oriented and works according to on evidence-based medicine.
  • Is willing to learn to speak and write Dutch.
  • Has a good command of the English language.
  • Is flexible, disciplined, straightforward and has good communication skills.
  • Is open to training a dermatology resident.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic dermatology clinical team consisting of four diplomates, a resident in training, and a dedicated veterinary nurse. You will participate in the dermatology referral service and in teaching and research activities. Facilities include state-of-the-art imaging (CT/MRI), laser, video-otoscopy and microbiology, and clinical pathology on-site services. There is excellent multidisciplinary support. You will be MRCVS and a Diplomate of either ECVD, RCVS or ACVD, or eligible.

This post is to cover a period of maternity leave from 20 June 2022 and is expected to last until 19 June 2023.
 
This clinical and teaching/research post will be based at the Leahurst Campus on the Wirral Peninsula. The nearest cities are Liverpool and Chester and there is easy access to Manchester and London. We are also well placed to explore The Lake and Peak Districts and North Wales.

The role

The University of Bristol’s Veterinary School is seeking to recruit an experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for teaching and a particular interest in dermatology. The appointee will be paid veterinary and ‘on-clinics’ allowances on top of their base salary.

What will you be doing?

 

This post is primarily a teaching role, delivering and leading the practical and didactic clinical teaching of undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students. You will also participate in the delivery of a high-quality clinical service in Langford Vets’, with a focus on supervising students.

 

You should apply if

 

  • We are looking for someone with energy, creativity, and commitment, to help our students develop the dermatological skills that they need to flourish in the workplace
  • Experience of, and enthusiasm for, teaching is essential, in practice and/or academic settings  
  • You must hold a Veterinary Degree recognised by the RCVS that allows you to practise veterinary medicine in the UK
  • A certificate-level qualification in Dermatology is desirable
